guys....please answer...
like many of you i am waiting to file my I-485. My attorney didn't file mine once news was out on july 2nd. and now i am going to india on 19th July as my mother is in serious condition and coming back on 3rd august.
If DHS/USCIS announce that we can file AOS in july, what are my options? can my attorney file my papers when i am in india?

No, you cannot show that period as experience. Moreover, by doing so you will be saying that you have been working during that period which would be illegal while on H4.

This happened with my wife case too. Company applied on June 1 , no update till dec ending , changed to premium processing as we have to go out of country got the approval in two days and copy in 7 days. I think its deliberate. But we are happy that we have it in hand. You cant do anything with this but rather give them extra 1000$ they want.

I see nothing wrong with this topic at this website. We had a lot of pressure on GC. The bad economy just made our life worse. We need some high spirit.
And the title clearly indicates that it is not about any specific immigration issue. People don't have to click when not interested.

Yes. she has a valid H4 Visa stamping till Jan 10. and she is landing in Dec last week.

The H4 visa stamp if remains un-expired on the day she lands in the US is anough document for her to return back. AP is not required.

BTW isn't I-485 for a future job ? How does the current work location matter ?
thats what scared me when i read this thread... so, basically, they are using even the pending 485s to raise issues on 140 etc... this i bad stuff.

I checked my bank account today. The checks got encashed.
USCIS issued receipt notice on Aug 27th. Checks were encashed on Aug 28th.
Nothing so far - lawyer says not one check is encashed so far -

Good to see you getting optimistic, I saw your frustration at April visa Numbers and glad to see you back with green $$$ this time !!
Bill introducted by Sen. Frist is great news, even though it is still in initial stages [Cross our fingers] glad we have something positive happenning.
We need to work harder and make sure it passes the house and becomes a law..long path and we should remain focussed every step of the way.

My friend and I, filed our respective H1B extension in June 2007. We were both expecting only a 1-year extension since our I-140s have been pending at Nebraska SC since December 2006. He received his H1B extension approval (3 years) in October and I received mine first week of December. Despite both I-140s pending, we both got 3-year extension! We are both very happy because the ;)approval saved us a lot of money. Both of us filed I-485 in July.

hmmn, i am seeing a HUGE jump in H1b cancellations in this forum, maybe there should be a separate thread dedicated to the cancellations so we can deduce some pattern or trend.
